What Santa Brought Us

I got a pair of awesome knit argyle Uggs in black from my husband. I'm not even sure how he knew I wanted them, but I was stoked! I have been checking these boots out for months, in fact I was at the shoe store next door to my hair salon on Monday looking at them.

Davis got tons of toys, as expected. I'm going to sift through all his stuff tomorrow and put a lot of it away for future use. My favorite gift he got was the Hokey Pokey Elmo from Aunt Jodi, it is super cool! Thanks Aunt Jodi, your the coolest!

We bought Davis a headrest DVD player for my Jeep. Yes, we are those parents now.

Lights Before Christmas at the Zoo = FAIL!!!, but he loves the Mall??

It was a great day, Davis had a nice, long 3 hour nap. He woke up in a great mood, we got him all ready, got in the car and that is where it went downhill.

Mistake #1 - Hubby decides instead of jumping on the e-way in Sylvania, 2 minutes from our house we'd jump on at Talmadge which is like 5 minutes from our house but in holiday traffic (we had to drive by the mall) it took at least 30 minutes, that is when the meltdown started

Mistake #2 - Letting Hubby feed Davis prior to leaving, he only gave him 3 oz before we left, ugh!!! I should have known to jump in the backseat as we waited through the 5th traffic light on Talmadge and just fed him some more bottle

Mistake #3 - Going to the zoo lights the week of Christmas, JESUS!!! Was the entire city of Toledo there?? YES!!! We waited about 5 minutes to pay to park

Davis started crying the second we parked the car. I got the stroller ready, Davis was all bundled up so he wasn't cold (trust me). Actually, he might have been too hot and that might be why he freaked out. The entire walk up to pay he cried, we got up to pay, he saw some twinkling lights and he stopped crying. We thought, alright we will pay the $20 and go in, he seems to be ok. We walked over the bridge and he was good, watching people, then we get across the bridge and into the zoo and it was over. He started crying like there was someone killing him. Jeff scooped him out of the stroller and held him where he proceeded to cry and carry on. I finally said, this is ridiculous, let's just leave. We put Davis back in the stroller and halfway across the bridge back to the parking lot he started laughing, doing his silly noises and carrying on like he knew we were leaving. I guess he just didn't want to be at the zoo. Whatever, we were not turning around and going back in, we got in the car, I sat in the backseat and gave him a bottle and we went back to our warm house. Davis played for 2 hours straight and was happy as a clam. Maybe we will try the lights again next year, but we will make sure and go when they open in November.

This morning we got up and went to the mall for some last minute things. Davis loves the flipping mall, I'm not really sure why but he gets super happy whenever I take him there. It was his first outing as a 1 week old newborn so maybe he remembers. Anyways, he was hilarious, he entertained everyone at every store we went to. He was laughing, making his new growling noises, helping mommy pick out a new necklace, we took him to the Disney store and he got a stuffed Nemo, stuffed Wall-E and a new celly (cell phone). He loves his phones. Here is a picture of the stinker with his Nemo.

Uh-Oh

Remember this post from August.

I bought a pair.

If you see me sporting a bunch of jelly bracelets on my arm please call the police.

Holiday-ish Happenings

Davis had his 9 month check up today, he is 18 lbs., 6 oz. and 29.25 inches long. He is in the 25th percentile for weight and the 75th percentile for height. Long and skinny!!

Monday my mom and I took Davis out in the snow for the first time, here is a picture of the little stinker wearing his Columbia fleece "Ohio State" bunting that I picked up at my favorite store, TJ Maxx, for $19, can't beat that! The sled is from a garage sale thanks to Grandma Connie.

I have managed to create 100 more cake balls over the last two days bringing my grand total of Christmas balls (haha, I love saying "Christmas Balls") to 200. I also made a small batch of peppermint bark because it isn't Christmas with out the balls and bark, right?

For Christmas day I am making Paula Deen's Gooey Butter Cake and her Ultimate Lady's Cheesy Mac and Cheese, both should be equally artery clogging.

9 months ago I was about 25 weeks pregnant, here is a picture of me from that time, seems like last week.

And because I haven't posted a picture of her in a while, here is my grandma Mary holding Davis. He is thinking, "Lady, what the hell is going on with your eyes" Mary loves sunning, she even sits in her foyer in the middle of winter with the door wide open catching rays complete with baby oil slathered all over herself. (Note: Davis was 2 months old here)

9 Months Old Today!!!

Wowzers!! 9 months already??? Davis is such a big boy. In his 6 month pictures he still looked like a baby and now he looks like a little man in his 9 month pictures. Davis is doing so many things now, he has been crawling and pulling up for 2 months, he is now standing without support like a champ and has even taken a few steps with no assitance (scary!). I just hope he holds off on really walking for a while, crawling is enough for now.

On Thursday Davis went with mommy and Grandma and Grandpa Jameson to the Franklin Park Mall for his first pictures with Santa, he didn't even cry, he just liked Santa's beard. I'm not sure what he told Santa he wanted for Christmas, hopefully he gets everything he wants!

We will be going to Davis' great grandma's house for Christmas Eve and Christmas day we will have my family at our house, it should be very exciting for Davis.

Here are some pictures from his big day at the mall:

9 Month Professional Pictures - Sneak Peek

We had Davis' 9 month photo shoot yesterday with our fabulous photographer Emy Zolg of JEM Photography.

Check them out HERE.

I'm ecstatic at how they turned out because Davis did not want anything to do with the pictures he was more concerned about her lights, camera, cords and anything else he could get his hands on. I spent the entire 2 hour shoot chasing him

Weekly Memo

To: Davis

From: Mommy

Oh Davis, I know you love your new scream, I'm not really sure what it is all about but you seem to enjoy it. You scream constantly, every time you stand up you scream, it must be out of pure excitement. Not to suck the fun out of the screaming, but it really hurts mommy, daddy and Maizy's ears, so try to tone it down, just a bit. I'm not asking you to stop, let's just change the pitch. OK?

Remember My Baby Food Review??

Remember I said how pricey Earth's Best was, well it is still pricey, but I bought some at Babies R'Us the other day and guess what?? Yep, Davis loves it so I've been buying it for him. Good thing BRU is having a sale, 10 for $5, which reminds me, I should go get some more but I'm being lazy today and it is really cold outside.

What Happens When Davis Does Not Want to Sleep

It is rare that Davis doesn't crash by 7 p.m. every night, so on this rare occasion last week I got a chance to tape him in his overtired glory. He stayed up until 8:30 p.m on this night, I called him my little drunk. The funniest part is the beginning when he falls.

What Has Davis Been Up To?

He turned 8 months!

He wants to watch Sex & the City, I told him he is too young

He is still crawling like no tomorrow

He pulls himself up on EVERYTHING

He finally met Stella, I think it was love at first sight, look at that adorable jean dress

We Bought a Baby Cage

Errrrr, I mean baby gate contraption thingy. Anyways, it is a big octagon and contains Davis in one spot, it is a fabulous invention, if your baby likes it. Davis sees this thing and starts crying. That was a well spent $60. So we are back to mommy chasing Davis all day, I look at it this way, I might lose some weight.

I Pretend he is Still a Newborn

I still rock Davis to sleep for his naps and at night, I know, I know, I know, I should be letting him try to fall asleep on his own and self soothe, but I'm just not ready yet. Every night I turn the TV off, turn the lights off, give him a bottle and rock him to sleep. I put my little man up on my shoulder where he rests his adorable little head, I put his favorite blanket over him, close my eyes and enjoy the fact that he is still a baby (a bigger baby, but still a baby). I give him tiny little kisses and hum him a lullaby. I know these moments will end sooner than I realize and need to take in every minute. The only time he lets me cuddle him is when he is asleep and I have to enjoy every moment of it. He rarely wants anyone holding him when he is awake, he is to busy exploring the house and being nosy. The minute I pick him up he tries to dive off my lap after something much more exciting than me, like the dog's tail, the remote, my hand weights and the occasional dog toy.

Just remember, these moments don't last forever and enjoy them all to their fullest because before you know it that little one will be off to college and you will stand their wondering where the time went.

It is the Gift that Keeps on Giving

Since I blogged about the Golden Showers we had 3 days in a row of them.

Thanks Davis!!!!

Golden Showers

Jeff and I have been peed on numerous times by Davis since he was born, but last night was exceptionally funny. We give Davis his bath together, I get the water in the tub nice and warm and Jeff gets Davis' clothes off. Jeff discovered months ago that Davis loves being nakey (most babies do) so he allows Davis to crawl all over nakey for several minutes before the bath. I've been warning Jeff that Davis is going to pee on something nice one of these days, like the carpet or the bed. Last night was the night, Jeff gets Davis undressed, lets him roll around on the bed nakey and what does Davis do? Yep, he peed, his pee stream was so long he first peed about 2 feet straight up into the air all over Jeff's arm and shirt, then he stopped for a second, I came in and Davis started up again, peeing on my hand and then all over the comforter on the bed. So, I get to make a trip to the laundromat this week with the comforter as it is way too big to fit into our washer, just what I want to do. I should make Jeff go. Needless to say it was quite the evening. When Davis was done he laughed as if he knew what he did. The little shit.

Weekly Memo to Davis

I'm stealing this idea from a fellow blogging mommy friend of mine.

To: Davis

From: Mommy

I realize that your new found freedom has brought you great fun and while I'm enjoying burning off extra calories by chasing you for the majority of the day, you need to stop playing with non-toys. Non-toys are listed below in no particular order:

1. Electrical cords

2. The air purifier

3. The DVD player

4. The DVDs

5. The barstools at the kitchen island

6. The dog's tail

7. The dog's toys

8. Mommy and Daddy's books

Your toys are contained in a basket, which you dumped over earlier today, spreading the joy of all your thousands many toys all over the living room floor. Yet you still tried to eat the electrical cords, take all the DVDs out of the cabinet, chew on the dog's tail, tip over the barstools, climb the air purifier, eat the dog's toys and take our books despite the fact you have many safe wonderful baby toys.

8 Months Today!!!

Sheesh!!! Stop growing up so fast Davis, your going to make mommy want another baby so she can suck up the newborn stage again.

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Here Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Davis is now pushing 8 months old so I thought I'd do a post of my favorite items that I think are worth every cent.

1. Dr. Browns wide neck bottles. Dr. Browns bottles are, in my opinion, the best. They do a great job to prevent gas and bubbles, they are BPA free and I love the fact that the 8 oz bottles are shorter when you go with the wide neck version, if you go standard they are awkwardly tall. Skip the 4 oz bottles and go straight for the 8 oz if you are a mommy to be, no matter which brand you choose. 4 oz bottles are a waste you don't use them long and bottles are not cheap.

2. Graco Snugrider stroller frame. This is awesome for those early days, the frame is small, lightweight and you can be ready to rock n' roll in a few seconds. I used this all the time instead of carrying that heavy seat in and out of doctor appointments, etc...

3. Bugaboo Frog Multi Terrain Stroller. What isn't to love about this stroller, it has an awesome bassinet attachment for newborns, you can buy attachments that fit multiple brands of infant seats so you can snap your infant seat in and go and the regular seat has 3 great positions for the baby once he or she outgrows the bassinet feature. I use this stroller at least once a day, sometimes twice. But is it worth the insane out of control only a celebrity should buy this price tag? That is questionable, had I not got a sweet deal, I'd have probably never purchased it. Don't get me wrong, this stroller is very nice, rides very well and heck, I look pretty cool pushing it and it is the celebrity stroller of choice (haha). But if you look up the price you'll probably crap yourself. I purchased it before Bugaboo jacked their prices up, I purchased it from a store offering 10% off, I used a gift card and proceeds from selling my cloth diapers to pay for the majority of it so I paid less for this than I'd have paid for a Graco travel system stroller. If I hadn't gotten a great price I'd have bought one of these, either a BOB Revolution or a Baby Jogger City Mini or City Select. All awesome strollers and handle just as nicely as a Bugaboo!!

4. Combi EX Lightweight Stroller. Everyone needs a lightweight stroller, we use this often as well, it is great when your out for a quick trip or feeling a little too lazy to deal with the big stroller. The thing that I love about this stroller is unlike many umbrella or lightweight strollers this one reclines, most people wouldn't thing that is such a big deal, but trust me, it is. If you are out and baby falls asleep it is nice to recline it a bit to make him or her more comfortable.

5. Britax Roundabout Convertible Car Seat. Easy to use, one of the best (if not THE best) brand of convertible car seats available. Graco is known for their awesome infant seats and Britax is known for their awesome convertible car seats.

6. Carter's clothing. Out of all the more affordable brands I've tried I think Carter's makes the best baby clothing for the price. They wash up well, they wear well and heck they are really darn cute!!!

7. Pampers Diapers. We started out with the Swaddlers, once Davis outgrew those (the biggest they make is size 2-3) we graduated to the Cruisers. While I do love the Cruisers, I have found that the less expensive Pampers Baby Dry hold pee much better than the slightly more expensive Cruisers.

8. Carters Velour Fitted Crib Sheets. Love, love, love these!! I have several different types of sheets and we like these best. They are super soft, very comfy and Davis loves them.

9. Evenflo Exersaucer. I did not register for one of these, I thought they were ridiculous with a capital R. My mother in law bought one for us and honestly, everyone needs one. What was I thinking?? This thing is a lifesaver, Davis has used it since he was 4 months old and still loves it 4 months later. It is especially awesome now that he moves around so much, I can stick him in his exersaucer, he plays with all the toys and I can clean my house without having to monitor him constantly. Tip: buy it used, I see these all the time at Once Upon a Child for half or less than half of the cost of a new one and usually they are in excellent condition. Just take it home and scrub it down with a little bleach water and your golden.

10. Fisher Price Jumperoo. I didn't even know these existed until after I had Davis. He loved this, we started using it around 4 months and he stopped using it around 7 months. He got bored with it, but it was great while he loved it. I bought this used, at a garage sale for $25. I told my mom on a Tuesday I wanted her to find me one and she had one for me 2 days later. She is the queen of garage saleing. This is another item I'd buy used again, they retail for around $80-$100 new and not worth it in my opinion for something that is going to get maybe 4-5 months of use.

11. Graco Pack n' Play with Bassinet Feature. We still use the Pack n' Play every single day. Davis slept in the bassinet from birth through 3 months, then we transitioned to his crib. I have this set up in our family room and I put him in it all the time to keep him out of things when I have to run to the door, go potty, throw a load of laundry in the washing machine, etc...

12. Costco Kirkland Brand Baby Formula. Davis likes it, it is just as good as Similac and costs half the price. What isn't to love??

13. Beech Nut Baby Food. Gerber sucks, Earth's Best is well the best but super pricey, Beech Nut falls in the middle and Davis likes it a lot. Sometimes I buy Gerber and he will flat out refuse anything made by the company. I've tasted them all and I like Beech Nut the best.

14. Primo EuroBath. This was our 3rd tub for Davis and the 3rd time is a charm. This thing is nothing but awesome. I will say that I liked the First Years Infant to Toddler for the newborn stage only because of the sling, once it got to the point where he couldn't be in the sling, the tub sucked. Now I know why Once Upon a Child has a bunch of them in the store, everyone hates them!

I'm Caving

Remember this post from July??

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to own a pair before December. I tried a pair on today and really, they are not that bad. I would wear them with boots of course. I also think I might finally cave and buy skinny jeans too, but again I'd wear them with my boots.

It is sad how they put this stuff out there, you hate it, you try so hard to resist it and then you end up caving in to fashion. Bastards!

One Year Ago Today

We found out we were expecing a BOY!!!! And I just realized last night that exactly 4 months later my water broke on March 19, 2009!!! Strange little coincidence.

Lots of Updates

So many Davis updates!!

1. Last Friday (Friday the 13th to be exact), he finally started really crawling, no more one or two little crawls, he decided to just go for it

2. Last Saturday afternoon (a day and a half after crawling) he started pulling himself up to a standing position on pretty much anything he can find

3. He still only has 7 teeth

4. I've estimated his weight to be around 18 lbs or so, his 9 month check up is a few days before Christmas and I can't wait to find out his height and weight

5. He eats solid foods like a champ for breakfast, lunch and dinner

6. He is down to 3-4, 8 oz bottles per day

7. He has started sippy cup training, although I don't think he has it figured out quite yet, the joy in his eyes when I give him the cup is priceless though, sadly I think he just assumes it is a toy

8. He really discovered the dog last week, he noticed her before but wasn't that into her, now that he can crawl he is obsessesed with her and his favorite activity is chewing on her tail (YUCK!)

Because of #1 and #2 my life when Davis is not napping has become quite interesting, I spend my free time chasing him, telling him no, taking him away from things he shouldn't be into, you get the idea.

Look For My List!!!

I'm going to make a list of all the baby stuff I love and cherish the most!! It will be posted in a few days.

I Have a Prize to Win

My husband knows how sad I am that I really haven't lost much weight since Davis was born. I weighed 173 lbs. the day my water broke, lost 20 lbs. 3 days after Davis was born, I lost another 8 lbs. on my own after that and have managed to lose even a few more, but gained it all back. I just can't seem to get on track with eating healthier and working out. I used to work out almost every single day before Davis was born, heck I was at the gym every single morning at 5:30 a.m. until I was 28 weeks pregnant. I started having sciatica issues and pretty much couldn't walk, let alone go to a gym. So last night he enticed me with something I've been dying to have since before we got married. You see my engagement ring was a custom design and so was my wedding band. I really, really wanted two wedding bands, one for the top and one for the bottom but with all the wedding expenses it was just a splurge we couldn't afford and my rings are gorgeous with just the one band anyways. But last night he told me that as soon as I reached my goal he'd buy me that second band!!!! My ultimate goal is to weigh less than 125 lbs, but my realistic goal is to just get under 130 lbs.

I'm giving myself until Davis' 1st Birthday to get there. If I don't get this baby weight off by then, I'm commiting myself.

I'm Not The Crazy Cat Lady

I'm the crazy baby food jar lady. I'm obsessed with saving them, why?? You never know what you can do with a baby food jar. You can store buttons, nails, screws, etc... in them. But my big plan for them is to someday use them for a baby shower. How adorable would it be to make them all cute, put some candy in them and give them away as a favor???

Davis' First Playdate!!

My friend Angi brought her little man over to meet Davis. Brendan was born on April 20, 2009, one month exactly after Davis. As you can see from the pictures, Davis is well, ummmm, kinda big for his age. I took the pictures at the end of the visit which is why Davis looks mad, he was tired and getting cranky.

I Have a Problem

I love Starbucks Lattes, my favorite is Peppermint Mocha, which is only seasonal, they better bring it out soon. In the meantime I enjoy, Mocha Truffle and White Chocolate Lattes.

I get them made with nonfat milk and no whipped cream to help bring the fat and calorie content down.

Daddy's Last Softball Game of the Season

We put shoes on him for the first time, he loved them

Eating his shoe!

Daddy in the dugout

Muffins!!!

I told Jeff to pick up something sweet at Costco yesterday, he came home with a dozen muffins, half pumpkin streusal and the other half double chocolate. They are very delicious, but they are not helping me lose any weight!! These muffins are the size of my head and must be 1000 calories each. I had a pumpkin one for dessert last night and got a belly ache from it. I've decided that as of today I'm swearing off any sweets until my grandpa's 90th birthday party on November 8th. Think I will make it??

I have zero faith in myself since I'm a major sweet tooth.

Baby Clothes

I swore I wouldn't become a "Baby Clothes Junkie", but I became one. Davis has more clothes than Jeff and I put together. I just cannot resist they itty bitty cuteness of some of the outfits. Here is one of my favorites, he is a month old here and this outfit wouldn't even fit his leg now!

This is another one of my favorites, he was 2 months old in this one. He looks so good in yellow.

Some of his outfits I loved so much that I bought them in 18 and 24 month sizes for next summer!!! They better fit because if they don't I might cry.

What Is Your Favorite Baby Age??

I've really only experienced from newborn until now (7 months), but I love, love, love the stage he is in right now. His hilarious personality really started coming out around 5 months but it is in full force right now. He is so much fun, sometimes I sit around waiting for him to wake up from a nap just so we can play. He loves everything, he loves people, he loves to laugh, he loves to be tickled, he loves to play, he loves to watch TV when mommy lets him, he loves being outside, he loves shopping, he loves the store, he loves his bath, he loves to eat, he loves his doggie, he loves going on his daily walk, he is just so happy all the time. I cannot wait to see what else this little guy starts doing in the months to come. It is just amazing how they go from that little, sleepy newborn to this in a matter of months. I'm not even sure how or when we got to this point sometimes. One day I woke up and had a tiny little man with a personality.

To sum Davis up in one word it would be, SILLY!

Cake Balls!!!

I made cake balls earlier in the week. I've been wanting to make them ever since I discovered Bakerella but never had a reason until now. These are going to be my new signature dessert for the holidays. They were easy to make and oh so yummy!!!!

Here is a picture I took of the final product:

Busy Weekend!!!

Friday afternoon we had Davis' 6 month in studio photo shoot, it was awesome!! Then Saturday we had our family photo shoot at Wildwood Park. Both shoots were with the wonderful Emy Zolg of JEM Photography. We love Emy, not only is she the sweetest person I've ever met, but she is an incredible photographer. I cannot wait to see the pictures :o) I'll post links to them once she has them ready.

After our photo shoot on Saturday Jeff and I took D-money over to The University of Toledo to walk around campus, it was homecoming weekend and the weather was perfect. Davis slept the entire time because he was exhausted from all the baby modeling he was doing earlier. Then we stopped at Arby's for dinner, not very healthy, not very nice (we were supposed to go out and celebrate our anniversary), but it was still good. Maybe next weekend we can celebrate with a nice dinner out. We were just too tired after our busy day Saturday.

Sunday I started baking something special for a little homeade gift exchange I'm doing with a few wonderful ladies, I cannot wait to post pictures, but I have to wait until after the exchange so my secret person doesn't accidentally see what I've made.

First Time Mom Blinders

Yes, there are such a thing. The moment you see that positive on the pregnancy test your head becomes filled with puppies and rainbows. The next 9 months are so exciting, picking out stuff for the nursery, registering for gifts, having your shower, imagining life with you, your husband and the new baby, seeing the baby on the ultrasound machine for the first time, thinking that your body will go back to it's pre-pregnancy self in a matter of weeks after giving birth, aaaaah, life is going to be so grand. See this clip from Desperate Houswives for the rest, it is so funny, sad and yet so true.

Some Pictures of Mr. Man!!

Somedays I think I might, just might want another one because he is so stinking cute, but when he goes to bed for the night and I'm exhausted I re-think that idea. I cannot imagine taking care of Mr. Man while pregnant, I cannot imagine taking care of a newborn and Mr. Man at the same time. My luck I'd have twins, maybe we will just get another dog.

Speaking of dogs, Maizy escaped out the front door and across the front yard tonight. I had to chase after her in my socks, thank god my mom was over and she had the baby. I guess Maizy didn't like the Toledo Edison dude in our front yard. Funny thing about this is he looked scared to death of her. Grant it she is a big dog, but she is a labradoodle for gods sake. You can't get any whimpier than a doodle.

Crawling Here We Come

The pictures speak for themselves, oh and I threw in a cute one of Davis and Maizy kissing. He isn't quite mobile yet, but he is trying like hell. Sorry they are blurry, but he was rocking back and forth.

Can I Turn Back the Clock??

I would like newborn Davis back so I can keep my concrete tables in the family room a little longer. He started getting up on all fours every now and then a few weeks ago. Tonight he took it to the next level, he was up on all fours a million times and would rock back and forth when he got up.

Since Davis has this new trick we both decided it is time to look for a new coffee table and end tables that are friendlier than the current glass and concrete ones we have. I really love these tables we have, they are so cool and it will be so sad to not have them anymore.

Solid Food Breakthrough

Davis has been finicky about what he will eat since we started solids 2 months ago, somedays he'd be into it, then he'd hate food for a week, then he'd only eat cereal, then he refused all solid food for 2 weeks straight. The last 3 days though he has been loving all food, even fruit!! I couldn't get him to eat fruit to save my life before. Now he will eat it all, veggies, fruits, and cereal. Yay!!!!

Happy 6 Months Davis!!!!!

Wow!!! In 6 more months you will be 1 year old, where has the time gone? For real, where has it gone???? I swear you were still in my belly yesterday.

What is Up with Fashion??

Jeff and I went to dinner tonight and you should see the way the girls these days dress. I was apalled. I'm sorry, but when you are 17 years old you do not, I repeat, do not wear a dress that barely covers your ass with hot pink stilettos. How in the world do they get past their parents dressed this way??

Another thing I do not understand is women who are cleary older, not that anything is wrong with being older, I mean 40 is the new 30. I'm in my early 30s, but I know that I can't dress like I'm in high school. Anyways, this woman was probably 45ish, she had a nice body, but she was older because she had the face of a 45 year old. She had on skinny jeans, a very tight top and some sort of ridiculous platformish stiletto type heels. My husband and I could not stop staring at that one.

If you ever see me in a lacey mini-dress with stilettos please toss me a pair of sweats.

Kirkland (Costco) Diaper Review

I have only used Pampers since Davis arrived, while he was in NB to size 2 we used Pampers Swaddlers and when he outgrew the size 2 we had to move up to Pampers Cruisers in size 3. I still am going to write Pampers and tell them they need to make bigger sizes of Swaddlers, but that is besides the point of my post.

I thought I'd give another brand of diapers a try, so we bought Kirkland brand diapers sold at Costco and I have to say that I'm impressed. For a store brand diaper they are really nice. We have been using them off and on all week since I'm not totally out of Pampers yet and I have not had one issue. Am I going to switch over to Kirkland? Maybe, I am supposed to be cloth diapering, remember?? LOL At the rate I'm going Davis will be potty trained before I actually get off my butt and order more cloth diapers.

I give Kirkland Diapers 2 thumbs up!

Costco, You're Killing Me

Jeff and I go to Costco for baby formula and Propel water, the formula is for Davis the water is for Jeff. Anyways, every single time we go there we get sucked into buying other things, one of which is the devil!!! I told Jeff, do not buy anymore of it and what does he do but toss one in the cart when I'm not looking. Your wondering what I'm talking about, right???

Davis Has 6 Teeth

Strange, right?? Not even 6 months old yet and almost a full set of chompers!! Of course some people have me freaked out that he is going to have bad teeth, but what can I do, it isn't like I asked for them. The story is that the earlier a child gets teeth, the more those teeth are prone to cavaties because they have a longer exposure to food, formula, breastmilk, or whatever. I guess Davis has to do everything early, he had to make his grand entrance into this world early and he had to get teeth early. What is next??

Wal-Martians

I have a love/hate relationship with Wally World, the main reason I go there is because they sell my coffee (Chock Full O'Nuts) super cheap, so for the most part the only time I go there is when I'm out of coffee. Anyways, Wal-Mart truly brings in a different breed of people, if you shop there don't worry I know not everyone who shops there belongs in this group, I mean really you get nutjobs anywhere you shop but for some reason Wal-Mart has a stigma attached to it. I call the weirdos I spot at our local Wal-Mart the Wal-Martians. Someone started a website, check it out daily for a good laugh, it gets updated often.

I Lost My Posting Mojo

It has been a busy week for the D and I. We have been doing lots of mommy and baby workouts aka walking the 'hood. We had baby time at the library Wednesday which was awesome!!!! We will be going every week. Mommy is joining a moms group and I'll be going to that every Thursday while my mom comes and sits with Davis. I can take him with me as they provide childcare, but he is always napping at that time so why wake him up to drag him out just for some stranger to watch him, right?? Next week's meeting is "4 Myths of Motherhood".

On a silly note, some of my old twirling buds are on Facebook. Some of them have daughters that now twirl in the same group we were in and I guess the girl who runs the group is having a mom's class. She said it will probably start in October. I cannot wait!!!!!!! I hope I get to have a recital, I'll invite everyone and you can come laugh at me.

Davis went to his grandma's house yesterday to stay the night so Jeff and I could go out and celebrate my 31st birthday which was a few days ago. We went to Sakura and both had the filet, it was delicious as always. Afterwards we came home for a bit and relaxed, changed our clothes and headed out to Mr. Freeze for some soft serve. I love Mr. Freeze and haven't been there all summer. We were both pretty full from dinner so we each only managed to eat half of our ice cream.

Then we decided to look at houses in one of my favorite (overpriced) neighborhoods, wishful thinking, ha! Anyways, we discovered that the price on lots dropped from well over $100,000 down to $28,000 in this awesome economy. We are so tempted to buy one, but I think subdivisions probably have rules that you have to build on your lot within a certain period of time and we wouldn't be ready to build for at least 5 years, maybe a little longer. I'm still going to call the realtor who has the lots listed and ask questions though, doesn't hurt to ask, right?

Back to cleaning.

Davis was a cranky pants today, I'm not sure if it was from the shots the other day or because he is getting another tooth. Probably a combo of both. Poor kid. He is sleeping now for the night.

We went on a walk tonight with Jeff and Maizy, Jeff switched Davis' stroller seat to position #2 (sitting up) and flipped the handlebar so he could face out. I like him in position #1 (laying down) facing me, I'm selfish, I like to see my baby while we walk and chat with him. Although Jeff decided the tires needed air, the stroller came with a pump, what a joke. I'm going to have to take it to my parent's house and have my dad put air in it with the big compressor. Or I suppose we could take it to the gas station too. You'd think that stroller would come with a better pump, oh well. I guess they can't include everything.

Jeff is folding laundry right now and having a fit because of the static. He is obsessed with fabric softener so he is quizzing me about how much I used and making sure I used a dryer sheet too. Dork, maybe he should do the laundry. So maybe I missed the softener, eh, big deal.

Tomorrow we are going out for my 31st birthday dinner!! Yumm-o!!!

Davis had to go for the 2nd half of his 4 month shots today. I split them up because I don't think he should have 4 shots in one visit, so we did 2 at 4 months and the other 2 at 5 months. So he pretty much gets shots every month on the alternate schedule, if we chose to do the AAP recommended schedule he'd get them every 2 months. He was a little trooper, he cried for about 2 minutes and then he was done. He fell asleep on the way home. After he woke up from his nap we played for a long time, took a long walk with Daddy, came home, had some green beans and pears for dinner, he took a bath, had a bottle and went to bed around 8 p.m. Pretty good day!

I made crock pot lasagna tonight, it was a new recipe, it was so-so. It was easy so that is a bonus, but if I make it again I'm going to have to spruce it up Jilly style.

We got season 2 of Californication from Netflix today, so guess what we are doing? Watching it tonight :o)

I Almost Forgot

Tooth #5 is making an appearance, Joy!!!

Leave it to my child to have 5 teeth at 5 months.

5 of 30

Shopping, shopping and more shopping. Yesterday Mr. D and I went to the mall to see if we could find a few onesie and pant sets on clearance. We were very successful, Macy's was having a terrific clearance on summer baby stuff. I got him 2 onesie/pant sets for under $8!!! And they were Carter's too!! Can't beat that price. He can wear them in the fall with a jacket. Today I went to Once Upon a Child and bought him some fleece pants, a long sleeved onesie and an adorable pant and jacket set all for $11. Can you tell I'm obsessed with buying this kid clothing?

So, since I'm tired of eating takeout I sat down this morning for about 30 minutes and went through my recipes and picked out 3 dinners to make this week. Tonight we are having a homeade chicken pot pie, Tuesday we will have crock pot lasagna and Thursday we will have chipped beef in white sauce over biscuits. We need to get back on track. I haven't gained any weight recently, but I haven't lost either, it is depressing. I'd like to be back to my wedding weight by Thanksgiving and it is obtainable if I just stop eating junk. Of course I don't help my situation very much considering I just baked a funfetti cake and Jeff bought 10 candy bars from the kids in the neighborhood. We are sugar addicts.

I'm obsessed with Giant Eagle, if you buy stuff on sale and have a coupon for it, you can buy stuff so cheap!!! I love it!!! They do double coupons up to $1, everything over $1 is worth $2. I've been shopping there for a while, but sales only if I have a coupon and if it is something we use. Example: they had a sale on Skintimate shaving gel and I had coupons, I got 4 cans for $2, that is $.50 per can!!! I also get my prescriptions filled there and some of them are pricey acne medications so I earn lots of fuel points that way. In the last 3 weeks I've managed to earn $1.20 off each gallon of a gas at my next fill up, you can thank the dermatologist for that.

I've also been making my own household cleaner, here is my recipe:

1-3/4 cup water
1-3/4 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon dishwashing liquid soap
a few drops of Grapefruit essential oil

It is AWESOME!!!!

You Know You are A Mom When......

Squash is the new black. Somehow Davis' yummy squash dinner ended up all over Mommy's (well really Daddy's, Mommy just borrowed it) white T-shirt.
