Mom on Strike

Have you ever felt like going on strike?

Stop cleaning.

Stop doing laundry.

Stop cooking.

Stop picking up.

I don't know if everyone is in the same situation I am in but I literally do it all in this household with zero and I mean zero help from my husband.

I feel extremely unappreciated.

I think he just thinks the house cleans itself and the laundry magically appears back in dresser drawers clean.

Does he realize I spend 3 hours every day after work keeping the household maintained??

And that I bust my ass every morning to get myself and a very strong willed 3 year old out the door??

The answer is no, he doesn't.

So next week I'm not doing shit around here.

I hope he enjoys filth.

Because I've had it.

I'm Winning

I feel like I'm on repeat constantly.

The only words that come out of my mouth are:

Davis, NO!!

Davis, STOP IT!!

Davis, WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT DOING THAT???!!!

Davis, WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT???!!!

Davis, PLEASE, NOT AGAIN

Davis, PLEASE, JUST LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE

Davis does not listen to me, ever.

He is very, very strong willed and when he has something in his mind he wants to do, he is doing it.

No matter what.

Many days I just want to give up the fight.

Sit in a corner.

Waive my white flag.

But then I think of kids whose parents did give up the fight, they let their strong willed child win.

I won't be that parent.

I'm winning this battle no matter what.

Randoms

I've been really neglecting my blog lately.

I'm going to make a point to blog at least 2 times a week, I promise.

For now I leave you with some random updates.

1. Christmas is approaching fast, as much as I love the holidays, I also cannot wait for them to be over.  Is that wrong?

2. I got my hair trimmed yesterday, I've decided to grow it out, I did ask her for a little swoopy bang and I'm kind of loving it.  Despite the warning from my retired hair stylist mother that I'd hate it....gotta love moms.

3. I bought this AMAZING coat from Land's End.  I've been eyeing it since I first saw it in their catalog back in August, but I was not paying full price for it.  It finally went on sale and I had a 30% off coupon code.  I got it in yellow and I had two compliments on it at work yesterday!!

4. I seriously love my job.  Going back to work (part time) was the best thing I could have done for myself.  As crazy as this sounds, it has really boosted my self esteem and I just feel good about going to work every day and doing something other than pick up toys all day.  Most of my IRL friends know where I work and while I don't want to disclose on my blog my exact place of employment I'll just say that I work for nuns, I love them, they are awesome and my big news is that I've been asked to work for a different order of nuns in this area a few hours each week as well.  I'm super excited, I guess that means I'm liked, right??

5. I'm loving all of the songs Davis is learning at preschool. It is beyond adorable when we are driving and he busts out singing "This Little Light of Mine".

6. I'm really leaning towards not putting Davis in our public school system when it is time to enroll him for Kindergarten.  I know it is still 2 years away, but they start enrolling for the private schools in January so I'll have to decide by January 2014 what we are doing. Not that I don't think public schools are great, they are, especially ours but I'm just not feeling it for him. I guess we will see how this plays out over the next year.

7. Speaking of school, his preschool starts enrolling for the next school year in January.  Existing students get first dibs and he will of course be attending the fabulous Montessori school again next year.  I'll be bumping him up to 4 days a week instead of our current 2 days a week.

8. My sister has met a fabulous guy and I'm secretly hoping they get engaged so I can plan a wedding!!!  Squeeeeeee!!!!!

Excuse the amount of photos.

Kid Obsessions

For some reason I thought we'd NOT have a Star Wars obsessed kid.

I was dead wrong.

BOGO Starbucks!!!

November 16-18, Starbucks is offering BOGO Holiday drinks from 2-5 p.m.

I naturally had to pick up two peppermint mochas made with decaf and nonfat milk yesterday.

I enjoyed one immediately and stuck the other in the fridge for this morning to warm up in the microwave.

Cheers!!

So Your Guy Didn't Win

I am disheartened by the comments I am seeing on FB right now in regards to the outcome of yesterday's election.

It truly makes my heart sad that adults can behave in this manner.

What I have seen isn't lighthearted banter.

It is pure hatred.

And it disgusts me.

Where's the Truck?

The one that hit me.

I am beat.

Exhausted.

Pooped.

What a week.

I haven't slept well all week so I am extra tired.

On Monday I noticed some faint symptoms I thought might be a UTI but in busy mom, put yourself on the back burner fashion I ignored it.

Last night I knew.

I couldn't put it off anymore.

Off to urgent care I went at 8:15 p.m.

I indeed have a UTI.

After waiting forever at Urgent Care (which is going to be a blog post all it's own) and picking up my drugs at the only (ghetto fabulous) 24 hour pharmacy I finally arrived home at 10:45 p.m.

Since I had been out in the cold I was wide awake.

I am positive I slept 1 hour last night.

Therefore, I feel like a truck hit me.

Thank god it's Friday.

Making My List and Checking it Twice

Out of complete boredom last night after trick or treat was done I decided to go to my favorite store, Amazon.com and make Davis' Christmas list.

I added about 50 things to it.

Don't worry, he isn't getting every single item.

I just went through and picked things I knew he'd like and then narrowed it down from there.

I chose about 15 that Jeff and I will get him and added it all to my shopping cart.

Yep, that is right, I'm doing all of my Christmas shopping for Davis through Amazon.com this year.

Why you ask?

I don't have to fight the crazies on Black Friday. The sales just aren't worth it to me anymore.  We used to do the Black Friday thing but are over it in our older years.

I won't have to step foot in a store and we all know what the mall area in T-Town is like from Thanksgiving until after Christmas, a total disaster is what it is.

I have a Prime membership, hello free shipping and two-day delivery.

And NO SALES TAX!!!!!!!!

I love Amazon.com!!!!

Once I order everything I want to get for him from us, I'll forward his wish list onto his grandparents and favorite Auntie Jodi so they too can enjoy the freedom of shopping on Amazon.com.
