Feeding the Kid

I'm so tired of the anti-food toddler antics in our house.

He used to be a pretty good eater, but lately it has gotten so bad that I am beside myself.

I find myself making, two, three, four different meals at each meal time just to make him happy.

I realize this is ridiculous and it needs to stop.

What do I do?

If he doesn't eat what is in front of him then that is it, he doesn't eat?

All he wants to do is "snack".

Suggestions?

I'm at the end of my rope on this one.

When Reece does this I give one healthy option saying its ______ or nothing. It seems to work most of the time. I've also kept his plate on the table for a while and when he asks to eat, I tell him to eat from that. Just keep trying, he won't starve-at least that's what everyone reassures me!

You get what you get and you DON'T get upset (Pinkalicious) in this house. ;)

4 meals each meal time? Aren't you exhausted?!?! It's going to take some time for him to get over 'needing' that because it's what he's used to now. But, I would start by giving him two choices each meal..."Do you want a sandwich OR xyz" Let him pick, but he only gets one of those two and the sides YOU pick. If he's hungry, he'll eat. If he throws a tantrum and storms off, then he doesn't eat. He won't starve himself. He'll eat it when he's hungry. And try limiting snacks...when they are around, it's hard, but once they are gone, either don't buy them or hide them. No snacks unless he eats his meal first.

Sophia used to be JUST like that. She still is at times and will throw a fit over whatever we have for dinner. She's allowed to not eat it, but then she's not allowed to have any snacks/treats after...so she goes to bed hungry. She doesn't like to go to bed hungry, so eventually she'll give in and eat a few bites. We don't make a big deal about it.
