What's For Dinner? And a Sitter

French Toast and Eggs

Yeah, really healthy Jill. BUT, my hamburger didn't thaw out and I've really got nothing else. Unless Jeff wants a tub of cookie dough for dinner.

Davis and I have been doing what I call "sit training" for a week or so now. He can sit unassisted without the use of his hands for about 5 seconds. I hope by the end of next week he can sit on his own for as long as he wants :o)

Goals For the Month

I really have slacked on updating this blog since Davis was born so I've decided to come up with a few goals for the next month:

1. Blog every single day, even if it is about nothing

2. Go to the gym 3 times a week and workout at home the other 2 days

3. Lose 10 lbs (wishful thinking)

4. Cook dinner at least 3 times per week

Where Does It Go?

Time that is. A friend of mine just had her baby and it seems like last week that I had Davis, honestly, it does. I swear she was just announcing her pregnancy. It just goes by so fast. Davis went from doing nothing but eating, sleeping, pooping and crying to a 5 month old with a personality and a few teeth overnight. Everyone told me to enjoy that little newborn stage because it goes by in the blink of an eye, at the time I thought it was nuts, just because that adjustment period with a newborn seems never ending. Everyone was right though, I look back at pictures of him after he was born and cannot believe that tiny thing is my little man.

My cousin had her little guy 2 years ago, can I believe he is going to be 2 already? NOPE! See how time flies.

Does it make me want another baby right now? NO WAY!!!! I'm having too much fun enjoying Davis right now to even think about it. Every day is a new adventure for us and it is fun to see the different things he can do from week to week.

Is a 3rd Tooth Going to Make Its Appearance??

Davis has been super fussy since yesterday, the same fussiness he was last week when he got his two teeth. I read in my baby care book yesterday that the two bottom central incisors (the ones he just got) are followed by the 4 upper incisors. I wonder if that is why his upper gums look funny. Is it possible he could be getting an upper already??? Man, this seems so early. My neighbor told me her little guy didn't get a tooth until he was 7 months old. I guess Davis is just an over achiever.

Oh and if you have a baby but they are not teething yet take my advice and screw the Orajel and pick up some Hylands Teething Tablets, they are the only thing that work for Davis. You can even use it with Tylenol because the tablets are all natural!

Cloth Diapering

Before I got pregnant I was so pro-cloth diapers, I even bought enough newborn sized cloth diapers to cloth diaper full time. I was so overwhelmed with a new baby though that I quickly abandoned cloth diapering and went to disposibles. I sold the newborn cloth diapers on Ebay for exactly what I paid for them, so no loss there. I have been thinking about trying cloth diapering again, but on a different level. I don't plan on using the prefolds, I plan on using the BumGenius 3.0 One Sized All in Ones. I ordered 2 the other day just to test the waters and they should be here today. My husband has no clue I'm doing this, I didn't tell him because I knew he'd throw a mini-tantrum over it. Another reason I want to try this again is because I keep track of every single expense we have on Quicken and we have spent $300 on disposible diapers since Davis was born 5 months ago. Sick, right??? I can buy enough of the BumGenius cloth diapers to cloth diaper full time for around $300 and those could last me until Davis is potty trained. So $300 every 5 months on disposibles or $300-$500 on cloth diapers that will last me another 2 years.

Hopefully it works out for me, but if it doesn't I'm not going to beat myself up over it. It cannot hurt to try again.

Davis Turns 5 Months Old!!!!! And Some Other News

Davis turned 5 months old on August 20! I honestly cannot believe he is that old already because it really seems like yesterday that I was in labor in delivery giving birth to him. They really grow too fast. Here is a list of his favorite things to do in no particular order: chewing on his feet, holding his feet, laughing, rolling over, trying to sit up, trying to crawl (god help me, this is a new one in the last few days), playing in his jumperoo, playing in his exersaucer and trying to pet the dog. He also enjoys drinking his formula, eating squash, carrots, bananas, sweet potatos and rice cereal. We are also buying him a convertible car seat this weekend because he is already outgrowing his infant seat. By the way the infant seat we have is supposed to go up to 30 lbs, but honestly I cannot imagine carrying around a 30 lb baby in one of those things. I think Graco missed the boat on that one, I can't imagine carrying around a 10 lb seat with a 30 lb baby in it. Although before I got pregnant that seat that went up to 30 lbs seemed so SMART, haha. Live and learn.

In other news, Davis has a girlfriend. Stella Jane was born on August 21 to Justin and Jen. Jen stopped by to visit us on August 20 and she mentioned some symptoms she had been having that day that were very similiar to the ones I had the day my water broke. She started having contractions that night!! I'm so happy for them.

Bumbo Fun

I bought Davis a Bumbo seat brand new on Ebay for $28 with the tray, I could not pass that deal up even though the seat is purple. He did not want anything to do with the Bumbo until today. He is obsessed with sitting up and almost can on his own but he can't support himself with his hands long enough to enjoy it. Today I decided to stick him in the Bumbo again and he loved it. He kept trying to eat his foot though!
