7:10 a.m. - wake up to crying, shit! I am so not ready to get out of bed yet, my back still hurts from yesterday and I feel horrible. I hurry up to get Davis because his crying is getting louder, he is clearly upset. I pick him up and go out to the family room. My husband comes into the house with the dog and I tell him I need coffee, NOW!! He volunteers to make it but I tell him I have to pee bad, just hold the baby I say. He holds Davis, I pee, brush my teeth, make coffee, look for a sippy cup. No sippy cups are clean??!!! Ugh! I clean one up which seems to take forever, get some water, take it out to Davis. I still haven't had my coffee yet. My husband is wanting me to hurry up so he can iron his clothes. I tell him I have to get my coffee and I'll be right there.
7:17 a.m. - Davis rushes into the kitchen, pointing and screaming at the food he spotted on the counter. It was the Oreo cookies that my husband left out the night before. I quickly stash them into a cupboard and tell him he can have toast with PB. I make the toast and put some PB on it and cut it into cute little squares. I still haven't had my coffee yet, grrrrr. But this is what it means to be a mom, putting your childs needs before your own.
7:30 a.m. - Block Davis out of the kitchen with the gate, he is not going to be rushing the kitchen all day making messes like yesterday, not again. I'm not picking up 200 playing cards off the floor.
7:31 a.m. - Coffee, glorious Coffee. Finally. Davis is whining. Oh, crap, GMA is on. Set my coffee down, go turn on Toy Story 2. Let Davis eat in the family room.
7:35 a.m. - Sit down with my coffee, check my email, check Facebook, check bank account and check my mom's group message board. Put some ideas for mom's night out on the organizers discussion board, I'm an organizer now, they asked yesterday. I'm excited about this new role I will have in the group.
7:50 a.m. - Second cup of coffee, aaaaahhhhh, starting to feel semi-normal
8:00 a.m. - I'm still sipping coffee and computing and planning out they day's events in my head. I'm going to drink this cup of coffee and then empty the dishwasher, wash the sippy cups, pick up the house, take a shower and get ready for 2 hours of therapy for Davis today. Oy Vey!
8:15 a.m. - Empty the dishwasher, I hate doing this for some reason, it is annoying, kind of like putting laundry away. I put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher, then I wash all of Davis' sippy cups. I go through the fridge, throw away some old food. Don't worry, it isn't old and moldy, I do this task every day. Call me weird. I go through and check dates on things like cheese, yogurt, etc.... Davis realizes I'm in the kitchen and busts the gate down. He starts opening drawers and throwing things around. I distract him with the blender. I decide that it is time for his morning smoothie. I gather some peaches, a whole banana, some strawberries, spinach and organic soy milk. I will get to the spinach later :o) I put it all in the handy Magic Bullet and blend it up. This mesmerizes him, he loves it when I blend stuff. I pour it all into his straw cup and he happily runs out of the kitchen and back to the family room. Phew! Toddler kitchen disaster diverted. Why spinach? If you add just a bit to a fruit smoothie you cannot taste it and it is full of nutrients!! Try it sometime.
8:45 a.m. - Go through the rest of the house, picking things up, putting things back where they belong. Chase Davis out of the spare bedroom , try to calm him down because he is clearly upset he isn't allowed to play with the paper shredder. I distract him by throwing him onto the couch. He thinks this is hilarious. I quickly run to the hallway up front and put the gate up so he cannot run down the hallway again and open the door. He opens doors now. Not fun. I do have those doorknob thingys, but he knows that if he pulls them hard enough they come apart and he can then open the door. My kid might not talk, but he is really smart.
9:15 a.m. - I.AM.STARVING!! Davis is distracted with his puzzles so I sneak into the kitchen and pray he doesn't find me. Not because I don't want to see him because I don't feel like diverting him away from the drawers again. I cook my usual, 2 eggs with chedder cheese and a maple sausage patty. I decided to make more coffee, I need it. I sit down with my breakfast at the island on the side outside of the kitchen, Davis sees me and tries to take my food, he is allergic to eggs so I scoot it back a little. I continue to eat quickly while he pulls on my legs.
9:30 a.m. - I take a chance and remove the gate from the front hallway, he follows me and seems to forget about the spare bedroom for now. I take him into his room where we choose his clothing for the day. Really I choose his clothes and he just finds things to keep him busy. He removes the vent cover from the heating vent and runs off squeeling with joy. I chase him and take him back to his room, he then spots his pack and play folded up on it's side, he realizes it is against his crib and proceeds to try to climb into his crib from the pack and play. He gets bored with that and is now hiding behind the rocking chair and won't come out. I leave him there and go searching for his bath towel. I come back and can smell him from the hallway. He was pooping behind the chair. He hates diaper changes so he hides from me, it took me about 5 minutes to coax him out from behind the chair. He finds the vent cover again and brings that to me. I undress him and clean him up. I don't dress him again because we need to get baths.
10:00 a.m. - Davis used to let me put him in the pack and play while I showered, well that is no more. He escapes over the side of it within seconds so I'm doing something I said I'd NEVER do, he showers with me now. It is the only what I can get a shower when he is awake. We both shower, he likes the water crashing onto him, he probably thinks we are at a water park. He is also loving the shower pouf and Oil of Olay body wash :o)
10:15 a.m. - I get Davis bundled up in 2 towels because he is shivering and we go out to the family room and he gets dressed. My mom shows up because she is going to go to therapy with us today. Since she is here I dry my hair with the hair dryer, change my clothes, put some makeup on, brush my teeth for the 2nd time today (I'm weird), go warm the car up, pour some coffee into my travel mug, pack some cheese, crackers and water for Davis.
11:15 a.m. - Out the door. We are headed to therapy.
11:30 a.m. - Arrive at therapy. Davis does good today, every week I see differences in him. Today we had speech therapy in addition to the occupational therapy he has already been doing.
1:00 p.m. - Leave therapy and Davis falls asleep in the car. Score!!! Naps are far and few between for this little man so instead of working out I sit down and decided to work on my blog post and watch the Housewives of OC until he wakes up. I also scheduled my first MNO as an assitant organizer of the moms group, a wine tasting!! I hope it has a good turn out.
2:38 p.m. - Davis is crying. I suppose I am done vegging on the couch and dreaming of having abs like Gretchen from the Housewives of OC. I get Davis out of his crib, he stops crying, I set him down in his PB chair and take his coat off. Yes, he slept in his coat. I take him out to the kitchen because he didn't have lunch and I know he is hungry. I had some cheese already cut up so I gave him that, warmed up some homeade mac & cheese and heated up some frozen (all natural) chicken nuggets. I put him in his high chair and he ate while I prepared dinner for tonight. Mexican Lasagna!!
3:10 p.m. - Davis is done eating, but I'm still cooking. I decided to give him 2 Oreo cookies knowing those will keep him busy for a few minutes. Yes, I broke another one of my "rules" today. One thing you learn about motherhood, never say never. It bought me 15 more minutes to finish the dinner. I needed to get it in the oven by 3:30 p.m. because it cooks for a little over 1.5 hours.
3:30 pm. - Get Davis out of his high chair, block him out of the kitchen, he doesn't notice, phew!! He is really obsessed with the kitchen lately and usually cries when the gate goes up. He is too focused on his legos and Maizy to see what I did. He proceeds to chase Maizy around the house and Maizy chases him too for a good 30 minutes. Good thing for Maizy, she kept him occupied for a little while and it cracks me up when they play. He screams, shrieks and laughs at her. Love it! Play with Davis and have Housewives of OC on in the background.
4:45 p.m. - Dinner is almost done!! Finish playing with Davis and go out to the kitchen. He follows me, busts the gate down. I did not divert him, he played in a cupboard while I put things away and got a few little ingredients for the lasagna ready, like cheese. I made him another smoothie, with grapes, peaches, spinach, a little PB, yogurt and soy milk. He loves it.
5:00 p.m. - Dinner is done. Just waiting for the hubby to get home with the final addition to the mexican lasagna, sour cream. I forgot it at the store, oops!
5:08 p.m. - Crack open a Bud Light. Turn on Timmy Time for Davis. He curls up in the La-Z-Boy with his smoothie to watch one of his favorite shows. He hasn't seen one of his shows since this morning. I'm not sure why he loves Timmy Time so much, the animals do not talk, they just make weird babbling sounds. Maybe they just speak his language, haha.
5:12 p.m. - Where is Jeff??? I'm hungry and I need my sour cream dammit!
5:25 p.m. - Jeff is home. I finish the mexican lasagna by adding some cheese to the top and sticking it back in the oven for a few minutes to melt. Davis is trying to get into the kitchen for the 8 billionth time today and successfully pulls the gate down, again. I think it is time to either get new gates that screw into the walls or just forget about gates all together. Jeff and I eat our dinner, it is really good. I need to post the recipe. Then we both head out to the family room and play with Davis for a while and I turn the Bachelor on from Monday night and watch that.
6:30 p.m. - Davis didn't eat much earlier at his lunch/dinner so I make him a few crackers with PB and get him a cup of soy milk. He eats all the crackers and chugs his soy milk. He loves that stuff.
7:00 p.m. - We start getting Davis ready for bed, clothes off, jammies on!! He wrestles us over this, as always. Diaper changes and clothes changes are usually a huge production in our house. We finally get him all ready, give him his Zyrtec for his allergies and brush his little teeth. Davis plays for a little while and I get him to help me pick up some of his toys. Then we play "super Davis". This game consists of me sitting on the ground with Davis, picking him up, rolling backwards and him "flying" over my head. Super Davis!! This is hard, a workout, I should do this every day. I would surely have Gretchen abs in 3 weeks.
7:45 p.m. - Davis is clearly tired, he curls up into my lap and falls asleep. I carry him into his room, put him in his crib, cover him up and walk away. Finally, quiet.
8:00 p.m. - Watch adult type shows and get my husband to rub my back because it is on fire, it hurts so bad, that made it much better!!!
10:00 p.m. - I'm in bed, only to know that in a few short hours we can wash, rinsh repeat.
