I've been so busy I totally missed writing a blog post for our 5th Anniversary!
October 6, 2007 - 86 degrees
October 6, 2012 - 51 degrees
Did I mention the temperature on our wedding day beat a record from like the 1800s??? It felt more like Southern Florida on our wedding day than it did Northern Ohio.
Everyone still talks about it.
I guess that makes my wedding unforgettable.
There's a lot of sweat going on in this picture!
The Thursday before our anniversary my mom had Davis at her house and I'm not really sure why, but she did. Jeff and I decided to not cook dinner and go out for something quick.
We chose Amy's Pizza, we hadn't been there in a year and if you are from T-Town and never had it, you are missing out.
After we left Amy's Pizza, Jeff pulled out of the parking lot and went right instead of left. I was confused. Maybe he needed gas in his car I thought.
I was also yacking away on the phone and not paying much attention.
Until he pulled into the CASTLE!!!
He surprised me with a trip to our jeweler and gave me the choice of adding a second wedding band to my set or an upgrade to the center stone.
We had always planned on adding a second wedding band to my set for our 5 year anniversary but with the price of gold being super high my wedding band has tripled in price over the past 5 years.
That meant upgrading my diamond would cost the same as adding a second band.
Of course the jewelry girl that works there and I went to high school with said, "Jill do you want to add width to your set with another band or get a bigger diamond"
It took all of 2 seconds for me to decide on a bigger center diamond.
I loved looking at all of the loose stones. What fun!! I could do it all day!
I only had her pull diamonds in our budget and that were the same quality as my original stone as far as cut, clarity and color were concerned.
She did pull one that was lesser quality because she was honestly intrigued by it. It was a BIG stone and super cheap. She said she had never looked at it before.
She pulled it out and said, ick, now I know why this is so cheap.
It was almost 1.5 carats, internally flawed and super yellow in color.
It was so yellow and horrible and flawed that you didn't even need to put it under a microscope to see the flaws in it.
I laughed because so many people get stuck on size and would have taken that big diamond in a heartbeat because it was big and cheap.
I narrowed it down to 2 diamonds and after looking at them under a microscope and in generic settings they have, I made my decision.
But not after having them pull out a diamond my current size and sticking that in a generic setting too. (it was hard to gauge size with my old diamond in the setting I have)
If I'm going to go up in size, I wanted a noticeable difference and noticeable it was!!
Our jewler is amazing, they do all of their work in house and I had my new, bigger diamond set in my ring by the following day at noon.
I love my new diamond!!!!
What a great suprise from my husband!!!!!
You can't go wrong with more bling, right?
