Goodbye Grandma Mary

My grandma Mary passed away last night, she had been ill for quite sometime and we had been expecting this. She was a feisty lady. We will miss her. She was born on August 15, 1925 and passed on April 6, 2010. She was 84.

Something got me to go see her Monday morning with the baby, I remember leaving and telling my mom that I was positive she was dying. She was talking really crazy (she always talks crazy), but this was extra crazy, it was almost as if she knew she was going to pass any day now.

We are not sure when the funeral services will take place because my cousin is getting married this weekend.

In memory of grandma, here is an old post with a picture of her holding Davis.

Speechless!!!

I have no words to express the way I feel about these photos taken by our awesome photographer, Emy of JEM Photography. Emy is amazing, I have known her for about 4 years now, I first met her in 2006 when we were searching for the perfect wedding photographer, she has captured every special moment in our lives and I'm so grateful to have found her.

Enough of my sap.

Check Davis' 1 year sneak peek out HERE.

Sleep Help Needed!!!!

I am desperate, beyond desperate. Davis sleeps, he goes to sleep fine, no fighting involved in it, but he wakes up 2-3 times every night and it is wearing on me. We Ferbered him the beginning of March with great success, then he got sick the following week and it was all over. We have tried to re-ferber him 3 times now and every time we make him cry it out he craps himself because he is so distraught.

I am now looking for advice from other moms, even if you are a blog stalker, come out of hiding and post your advice.

Just Some Pictures

Last night we took Davis to dinner at Mulvaney's Bunker for Jeff's birthday, he was pretty cute, here is a picture of Davis and Mommy before we left:

Here is Davis studying the menu, he ordered grilled cheese and mashed potatoes in case you were wondering:

Reading a book, with his "MOM" tattoo shirt (another one from cousin Amy):

Sleep Solution Update

I'm thinking my theory is proving true. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Davis napped no more than 1.5 hours during the day on each day, Saturday (yesterday) he napped for 3 hours. Guess what I was doing from 1 a.m. until he decided that 7 a.m. was time to finally get up for the day?? Yep, trying to get him back to sleep. It was awful, he kept waking up constantly, every hour upon the hour, it was just like it had been prior to Wednesday (the day he napped only an hour). I really think he is just too old to be napping for such long stretches and that might be why he is waking up in the middle of the night and fighting going back to sleep. He is napping right now, he went down at 12:45 p.m., I will be waking him up at 2:15 p.m. Tonight should be a good test.

My New Sleep Solution

Not letting Davis nap. Yep, my new theory is that he naps too long during the day, therefore destroying his ability to sleep well at night.

You wonder how I came to this theory???? Well, yesterday we got up at 6:20 a.m. and went to Kindermusik at 10 a.m. Normally after Kindermusik he always and I mean always naps. Not yesterday, nope, he was ready to go. We got home and he was asleep in the car, I scooped him up and laid him in the crib. He woke up, smiling and bouncing a whopping 2 seconds later. I put the big stroller in the car and took him to the mall for 2 hours. It was 2 p.m. when we got home and he still was showing no signs of exhaustion. I decided around 4 p.m. to take him to the park. Something told me to have him face me in the stroller though, glad I had him face me because about 1 minute into our walk he was out. I tipped the seat back to full recline and he slept for our entire 1 hour trek. Once we got to the car he woke up. We came home, he had dinner and we took him outside to play for an hour. By 7:30 p.m. he was done, we brought him inside, got his jam-jams on and gave him a bottle. He fell asleep in my arms and I put him in his crib, he woke up, SHIT!!!!! I decided to make him cry it out, that didn't work, he crapped himself, ugh!! So, I got him out, changed him and he fell asleep while getting changed. I rocked him for 5 minutes, put him back in the crib and he slept until 8 a.m.

WTF????!!!!

I've decided that extreme exhaustion and no longer than a 1 hour nap each day is key.

I'll update on the progress of my new sleep solution later.

Watch out Dr. Ferber because Dr. Jill is taking over.

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming

Davis has been attending swimming classes at the YMCA since the last week of February, he loves swimming class so much, even though he is the only boy! Today our friends Jen and Stella joined us, they have been in Florida for 2 whole months! Stella is 7 months old and she is just a tiny little doll baby. They joined us in Kindermusik yesterday too, Davis was happy his little friend was finally able to join him in these exciting activities. We only have 2 swimming classes left, so I'm hoping my mom or dad or both can come take some pictures of us. I do plan on signing Davis up for the Spring session that begins the last week of April, so if I do not catch this session on film, we will get the next one.

Here is what happens after swim class:

And because I couldn't resist, here is my sweet little man, sound asleep in his stroller while on a walk at the park yesterday, awwwwwww:
